  • ABOUT THE PROJECT

    BACKGROUND

After I posted my own business card AR filter on LinkedIn, Olga Menefee, one of my connections, wanted to commission me to create one for her own business card.

    MY WORK

I got to work on Olga's business card once she e-mailed me what she wanted on her business card AR filter. I gave her a short video explaining how the business card works so she would know how hers would turn out. I created the assets in Adobe Illustrator and created the filter in Spark AR.

My Creation Journey

Who are we serving?

Previously, I posted my AR Business Card on LinkedIn and received a lot of positive feedback. One of my connections, Olga Menefee, wanted a filter for her own business card. She commissioned me to create one for her, so I got to work creating the business card.

Before we begin...

First, I needed to know what Olga wanted on her business card. She e-mailed me several links that she wanted to have on her business card. With this information, I got to work getting high-quality screenshots of these webpages. They included her company's website, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.

Creating the art before the interaction.

Before working on the actual filter, I needed to create the assets. I did this in Adobe Illustrator, where I created the buttons that the user of the filter would tap to see the website previews.

After creating the buttons in Illustrator, I also wanted to create a graphic that represents Olga. I created a graphic surrounded by circles that created depth and made her card look more personal and dynamic, while also matching her company's branding.

Let's bring it to life!

With the assets created and the desired content of the business card confirmed, it was time to begin bringing the filter to life in Spark AR. To start off, I made a target tracker that would track the image of Olga's business card. Then, I put the assets from illustrator in as planes. Now, it was time to create the interaction.

Patch Editor

In the patch editor, I created output patches for the buttons and attached the "object tap" patch. Next, I wanted to have the site previews disappear and reappear according to what button is pressed. To do this, I used option switch and attached the object tap for each option to their respective option number. I then attached an object sender to the option switch and sent the options to the respective content (page preview and link text). I also included an animation for the portrait of Olga to bounce into frame when the filter registers the target.

Drumroll, please...

With the filter completed, I tested it through my phone. It worked as intended, so I sent a preview of the filter to Olga. She was pleased with the result! She gave me permission to post it on my LinkedIn and include it in my portfolio.
